All
people and nations are subject to the transcendent, unchanging
standard of justice known as natural law. The Founders of our
nation recognized that this standard is from God and believed
that our nation ought to govern itself in accordance with it.
-
All
people are endowed by God with the unalienable rights to
“life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Government is
instituted to secure these rights for us and our posterity. Note
that “posterity” includes the unborn and that “life” is
the first right listed. Without life all other rights are
meaningless.
-
The
only legitimate powers of government are those which are
instituted with the consent of the governed. Powers instituted
without the consent of the governed are tyrannous and should not
be tolerated.
-
Our
nation is ruled by law, not people. All citizens, even those
serving in government, are equally subject to the law.
-
Americans
are free to practice their religion without interference from
the government - including the courts, so long as their
religious practices meet generally accepted moral standards. If
a form of religious expression does not constitute the creation
of an actual national church, it is protected under the 1st
Amendment, even if it offends the irreligious.
-
The
American people have the right to bear arms as a security
against an oppressive government. It is to be recognized that
guns do not kill people, people do. Therefore, violent
criminals who abuse the right to bear arms ought to be harshly
punished.
-
The
executive and judicial branches of the federal government are
not to usurp the lawmaking power and authority of the
legislative branch. Any usurpation ought to be investigated and
penalized in accordance with the principles of the Constitution.
Failure to uphold this responsibility is a violation of the
Constitution and the people’s trust.
-
The
highest law in the land is the Constitution. It is not to be
subjected to the laws and policies of foreign nations or
supra-national organizations. Representatives that allow the
Constitution to be subjected to laws over which the American
people have no say are in violation of their oath of office and
the people's trust.
-
Representatives
are entrusted with the stewardship of the people’s money. It
is immoral and a violation of the people’s trust to squander
tax dollars and burden future generations with massive amounts
of debt incurred from reckless spending.
-
The
duties of representatives are to the citizens of the United
States, not corporations, foreign governments, or the citizens
of foreign nations that may reside in the United States. Laws
are to be enacted in the best interests of American citizens first.
-
Our
government has a responsibility to defend the American people
against invasion. Foreign nationals who violate the sovereignty
of our nation should be penalized to the fullest extent of the
law.
-
American
citizenship is something of the highest value and should not be
given away to law-breaking illegal immigrants.
-
A
strong manufacturing base is critical to the health of
America’s economic backbone: the middle class. America cannot
expect to remain a 1st world power if it continues to
allow its economic might to erode through unfair trade practices
and bad trade policies.
-
It
is immoral to debase our nation’s currency by continuing to
flood the economy with vast amounts of fiat dollars. The effect
of this is the continued erosion of the life savings of millions
of Americans through inflation. Representatives have a
responsibility to insure that economic policy protects the
long-term financial health of all Americans.
